Overview:

Join professional writer Kody Chamberlain for a three week course on scriptwriting. In this intensive workshop-style class, we'll cover the fundamentals of story development, character, structure, outlining, and the various tools needed for quality scriptwriting. By the end, you'll have everything you need to write the next great screenplay, pilot, or comic book series.

Details:

Classes are from 6pm to 8:30pm on Tuesday nights starting on July 11, 2017. Writing assignments will be required, as well as reading and editing scripts from peers.

Schedule:

  • July 11 (6pm to 8:30pm)
  • July 25 (6pm to 8:30pm)
  • Aug 1 (6pm to 8:30pm)
  • Note, there is no class on Tuesday, July 18.

Location:

Venue is to be determined based on total number of registrations, but we will meet at a safe, friendly location in Lafayette Parish. Details on the venue will be mailed to registrants as soon as it's available.

Limitations:

  • Must be 15 or older to attend. Exceptions may be made if a parent or guardian attends with the student, please contact me about this before registering.
  • All minors must be dropped off and picked up at the classroom by a parent or guardian.
  • A students must be able to read, write, and follow directions.
  • This is a live course, so you must be present to attend. There is currently no video or live streaming available.
  • Catch-up work will not be provided if classes are missed.

    Requirements:

    1. Qty 100 - Index Cards, 3x5". Blank or ruled, your preference.
    2. Qty 1 - Tray, box, or rubber band to hold your index cards.
    3. Qty 2 - Sharpies - medium tip recommended.

    5. Great penmanship or basic scriptwriting software. No need to drop hundreds of dollars on Final Draft, you simply need a scriptwriting app that can export to PDF, and they all do. I highly recommend Slugline ($40) or WriterDuet, Amazon Storywriter (both free), or any of the applications that supports or exports Fountain format. Just remember to always save your scripts in more than one place and keep a reliable backup. Fountain is a great standardized file format and isn't dependent on any particular software company for support.
